Surviving the lockdown with an active tail.

First of all, I must admit that today, our tawny tail is a pretty calm grownup dog – at least for the most part. Oto will turn 5 in August this year and has somehow calmed down in a recent year or so. Hence we survived the lockdown fairly easy (comparing to only a thought of what a lockdown looks like with an active puppy) …

Let’s go for a run.

Having a vizsla is great fun. That’s why we love to include Oto in our daily activities, we all benefit from it. I could easily write a post about hiking together as that’s probably our favorite hobby – I’ve also already touched upon topics like camping or city strolling with your dog. However today, I’m sharing a few tips about running with your furry friend …

Camping with
your dog!

We’ve always loved camping! But since Oto joined our pack, camping honestly got even better. It’ so much fun having your furry friend by your side – on the towel while reading a book in a shadow, when jumping and swimming in the sea, strolling around seaside cities in a search of a good icecream, on walks and hikes …

City strolling.
With your dog!

Labor day holidays are all over and I’m happy that we made the most out of them. We were hiking, strolling around Ljubljana, spending time in nature, visited Trieste one sunny afternoon – and our tawny tail came along for the most part. He still seems tired of all the activities, napping here on the sofa beside me. We don’t take him everywhere we go …

Oto’s favourite spots around Ljubljana.

Spending time in nature is surely Oto’s favourite activity and my favourite hobby ever since we got this tawny tail. It’s calming and energising for me, while it’s fun and essential for active dog breeds like a vizsla is. So we do our best to go hiking on weekends if we have time on our hands – today we hiked to Roblek Lodge at Begunjščica …

Time to put some layers on?

Uh, it’s cold outside. This week temperatures got real low and out vizsla was freezing his butt off. I never thought I’ll be dressing my own dog, it seemed silly to me once – but our short-coated tawny tail doesn’t cope well with frigid temperatures. So our VizslaTea coat came in mail just in time. After getting used to it, Oto now loves it and when it’s cold …

It’s been a year.

Exactly a year ago – today, this happy tawny tail hopped on our little sofa for the first time. Time truly flies, this puppy has grown up, but so far he kept his soul playful and curious, making us smile every single day. It was a bold decision, at least it seemed like one back then … we were making a huge research …

Rainy days

Autumn is on its way, days are shorter and also rainy more often. Hence we’re always looking for new ways to have fun with our vizsla inside and make the most out of gloomy days like this one today. Oto doesn’t make us lose our minds on days we have to spend indoors – he gets lazy and naps even more, he doesn’t like to be out in the rain anyway …

Happy 1st b-day Oto!

Featured Image

Our little tawny tail is not that little anymore. He just turned 1 year old today and we are celebrating his b-day with a yummy meat cake – yummy for Oto that is – and some fun by the river, since he loves splashing in the water the most. Last time around at Iska Gorge, we had GoPro camera with us, so we filmed Oto having fun, fetching sticks and swimming. The video is over here!

Let your dog play in the water, but …

Our tawny tail loves the water. Since he figured out how to swim, it’s always a problem getting him out of it, may it be the sea, river or lake. He enjoys it a lot, finds swimming fun, even dives in for an interesting looking stone and loves to fetch sticks, balls – anything you throw for him to catch really. So we let him play and enjoy in the splashing, but after some experience …
