Hiking to the bivouac shelter under Skuta mountain was on my bucket list for years now. In 2015, the old bivouac was replaced with the new, may I say a very good looking one – and all of a sudden, the steep hike via “Ĺ˝mavcarji” didn’t seem all that bad. Well, the hike still is steep, unmarked and takes some time, but …
Summer hiking.
Due to the lockdown, all our spring hiking plans went out the window. Then June came and things started to fall back on its tracks, but we somehow had no time for hiking. It wasn’t until our summer holidays were over, that I found myself completely out of shape – but so eager to visit mountains again …
Hvar in June.
We started our summer holidays early again this year. We can’t help it, we love the peaceful and quiet June summertime. The sea still might be a little cold, but the heatwave is never too bad, days are the longest and the pre-season holidays are always less crowded. But this year, with lockdowns still active, it felt like we had the island for ourselves. We stayed in …
Surviving the lockdown with an active tail.
First of all, I must admit that today, our tawny tail is a pretty calm grownup dog – at least for the most part. Oto will turn 5 in August this year and has somehow calmed down in a recent year or so. Hence we survived the lockdown fairly easy (comparing to only a thought of what a lockdown looks like with an active puppy) …
A crazy plant woman.
I used to consider my mom a “crazy plant woman”, but since gardening became my hobby as well, I guess I joined the club! Collecting plants, taking care of them, propagating & growing new baby ones has been a hobby of mine for a few years now. But since we moved to a flat with a terrace, suddenly growing outdoor plants and vegetables became an option …
When time stops …
Well, the times have not stopped, not really. Nature didn’t mind for the global crisis, there is already a beautiful spring outside. Besides a few days off, I have also been working throughout the whole pandemic period. However, the lockdown and staying-at-home-all-the-time still somehow felt like time stopped …
Hiking in Scottish Highlands.
My mind often slips back to our Scotland road trip. What a great experience that was. We loved all of the castles and their stories, whiskey tastings, driving the Nort Coast 500 Route but mostly, hiking in the Highlands. With the stubborn Scottish weather, we soon experienced it all, from returning to the car soaking wet to days of only clear blue skies …
Grintovec.
We did quite a few hikes in August – however some tan lines from the day we hiked to Grintovec can still be seen on my legs and arms today! Nontheless, this was one of my favourite hikes of this summer. Maybe because we didn’t really plan it and spontaneous decisions usually turn out great. After we hiked to Kokrsko sedlo from Suhadolnik …
Concert trips.
Oh we have so much to catch up on! A busy summer is over and after coming home from Scotland (stay tuned for the Scottish road-trip posts, I’ll get there), I want to recap it at least a little bit – starting with some more travels I did in July and August. With some planning ahead and booking tickets while there still were some, I got to visit a few very cool concerts …
Via Ferrata girls!
You will hear many members of our family say, that my cousine Lara is a mini-me. Both having long legs we look a bit alike, but we also both love our dogs, as well as adventures and share little fear of heights! So, Via Ferrata hike was on our bucket list for a while. As it was Lara’s first, we took it easy and visited Via Ferrata Hvadnik …
