Vipava Valley is our home and comming back is always a joy, even if it’s only for the weekend. We love our green Valley, its rivers and woods, paths and hiking trails, its little towns and villages. And even more so, our families and friends living in here. However, because we feel local, we too often forget to explore around this charming countryside …
Kamenjak.
The southernmost cape of Istria and my favourite spot around here. I love this place, it makes me happy everytime I visit it. I spent two days at Cape Kamenjak last week and this photos are from the time we went hiking around the Cape with our tawny tail. The second time around it was warmer and I even took the first dip in the sea this year …
Pula sightseeing.
After we heard they have special icecream for dogs in Pula, we had to check it out. Oto loved it! He didn’t mind they only had one flavor and finished that scoop so fast we were almost too late to get a photo of him in front of the Gelateria. Afterwards we took a walk around historic city center, enjoyed the sun, grabbed some hazelnut croissants and let our vizsla’s nose lead the way …
Holidays in Istria.
Greetings from Fazana! We are currently on our first summer holidays this year and even though the temperatures are not the highest, we are having a wonderful time. Our vizsla boy loves the sea and seems to enjoy camping and cycling along the coast with us. Fazana is a perfect little village for a morning stroll coffee by the sea and buying fresh seafood …
A day in Trieste.
Driving for an hour and crossing the border for a good espresso? Of course! Anytime. My girls came up with the idea about a day-off in Trieste and I couldn’t wait for a sunny day in this old seaport city. It was a very well spent Friday. We took our time, enjoyed Chocolat “gelato”, chated over Aperol Spritz, did some shopping …
One special cake.
I love cakes! Actually I love desserts of any kind – so in order to satisfy my sweet tooth I bravely started baking a few years ago. In the beginning it went quite bad and I didn’t manage to bake anything properly, but at least I got funny stories for my friends out of it. As most learning processes go, I got better in baking with time and practice. There are still failures along the way …
A city boy.
May is a great month to enjoy the city before it gets way too hot in the following summer months. It’s already really warm here in Ljubljana, but it also gets a bit chilly in a shadow, with a light breeze … Ah it feels amazing and we take as many opportunities as we get to stroll around the city with our vizsla boy. Some of our favourite city activities are …
Let’s cool down.
It’s getting hot around here and Oto’s ideal walks, when temperatures are rising higher and higher, include water – in any form that’s possible in given situation. Splash of cold river water for example is great. So when we are spending weekends at my hometown, this tawny tail always finds his way to the Vipava river. He’s not very sure about swiming in it jet …
Little tawny tail growing.
Our tawny tail is 9 months old. We only got him 5 months ago and oh boy, it has been an adventure ever since. I already cannot imagine life without this happy little tail – he is the best thing that has happened to us. It’s never boring with this one. He is so playful and joyful and his tail isn’t calming down just jet. Not at all …
Along the wire.
A very special memorial walkway around Ljubljana gets crowded each year in the begining of May, as a remembrance of the city liberation on 9th May, 1945. Marked by signposts, information boards and metal markers on the ground, it follows once wired route that limited Ljubljana during World War 2. The Trail along the wire – also called The Trail of Remembrance and Comradeship …
